Jacques le Sourd has been the Broadway drama critic for Gannett Newspapers for 30 years and files a weekly LoHud.com podcast on the New York theater scene. Born in Paris, le Sourd graduated from the University of Chicago. His first writing job was with the Encyclopedia Brittanica, in Chicago. He started as a reporter with The Daily Times of Mamaroneck in 1973, was appointed drama critic for the Westchester Rockland Newspapers two years later, and began to be nationally syndicated in 1978.
Le Sourd served four years as president of the New York Drama Critics Circle, starting in 1997. He is still a member of the organization.
